Joe Hunt Wingless sprint Shootout Series invades the fastest 3/8 dirt oval in California for the final time in 2014.
After having almost two months off from action the Joe Hunt series will be at the Petaluma Speedway this coming Saturday for the season finale. Last time the series ran was during Wednesday night portion of the Gold Cup Race of Champions and it shook up a lot of things as the top 4 in points had major struggles. Point leader Tommy Laliberte blew a motor late in the race ending his night with Terry Schank closing in on points only to find himself off the edge of the track with a folded up front end. Third in points Trevor Schmid did not check into the racetrack due to other activities handicapping him to run at the Gold Cup. Fourth in points Scott Hall was leading only to have part failure ending his night. So the positions didn’t change at all.
Tommy Laliberte will be in attendance the Gilroy, California driver has been nothing less than consistent and fast as anyone else. Laliberte has 350 points and currently sits on top of the points with his consistency all season he will be too tough to tame this Saturday.
Second in points with 318 points is car number 1 Terry Schank Jr. The months of June and July Schank was unbeatable with the Joe Hunt Series, Pit Stop U.S.A. series and at the Silver Dollar speedway winning 5 in a row. Schank is unarguably the best in this division.
Third in points with 288 points is the O1, driven by Shane Myhre. Myhre putting together a respectable rookie season with the series has some confidence rolling into the Petaluma Speedway.
With 268 points heading into this Saturday is the black 2 of Trevor Schmid. Schmid has ran top five in all his Joe Hunt starts at the Petaluma Speedway, do not count him out as he seeks his first Hunt win in 2014.
Fifth in points finds the driver who dominated the Placerville Speedway portion of the Joe Hunt Race with 249 points hopping back and forth between the John Campanille77J and the Hall Bros. 56K is Rio Linda’s second famous son (Tommy’s brother) Scott Hall. Hall has the intelligence of Dan Lind in his corner week in and week out. You never see Dan without his 5/8 wrench trying to find the speed for Hall.
Sixth in points found a very talented driver with 240 points this season driving for the most exciting car owner Dave Johnson 32 was none other than Rowdy McClenon. Rowdy found a lot of hoops he has to jump through in 2014 but he will be back in the saddle again in 2015.
Seventh in points with 218 points on paper the famous white 6 of Napa, California’s Joe Stornetta Jr. Stornetta won the Adobe cup last year, can he pull it off again? He is the defending race winner and always is charging forward in the family owned 6. Stornetta is currently looking for sponsorship to advance his race team in 2015 and looks to hopefully run some more United States Auto Club races next season.
