Well, From what I saw outside the gates, there were 12 cars, which was the high car count of the night for the show. One car broke and loaded early. I'm a bit surprised that the count did as well as it did. As for whether they are giving people a grace period, I cannot say. I don't have that information. Keith brought his car, so maybe he can give more insight. Of course, the best thing to do is contact the track if you want to know if you can race. If everybody truly was "Econo" legal, then maybe it will be a good thing. I never disagreed with adjusting the rules so much as the timing. My main two criteria have always been affordability and safety. Plus, don't keep messing with the rules once they are written. The guys have a heavy schedule there early on, so we'll see how things hold up. As always, I'm hoping for the best. I know there where a few cars there that did not meet the rules, including mine. However my crank broke so the motor will be rebuilt and it will be legal for there.

I thought that might have been the case. Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad John didn't take a hard line on the rules considering the lateness of the announcement. Sorry about your motor problems. I was wondering what happened. I think it could have been a really good night for your team otherwise. Next time will be better. As for anybody with a car who is not sure, I'd recommend contacting the track, just to be safe Disclaimer: The opinions expressed in this post are those of an old racing reporter, column writer, announcer and co-founder of Wingless Spec Sprints and are not meant to offend. Understandable Keith. I was there, but I wasn't in the pits. I was just admiring all the race cars, and seeing how many faces I recognized. It was an interesting night. I could hear the pit meeting from where I was. I thought Brad handled things pretty well, and I like that he thanked everybody for coming Disclaimer: The opinions expressed in this post are those of an old racing reporter, column writer, announcer and co-founder of Wingless Spec Sprints and are not meant to offend.
